The peerage este un sistem juridic cu titluri în mare parte ereditare în Regatul Unit, care este constituit din rândurile nobilimii britanice și face parte din sistemul britanic de onoare. Termenul este folosit atât în mod colectiv pentru a se referi la întregul corp de titluri nobile, cât și pentru a se referi individual la un anumit titlu. Titularul unui colegiu este numit un coleg. În practica modernă, numai membrii familiei regale primesc noi științe ereditare. Numai peștii de viață care poartă dreptul personal de a sta și de a vota în Casa Lorzilor sunt, în general, acordați pentru a onora indivizii în practica modernă; au fost create ultimele peeraje ereditare non-regale în cadrul guvernului Thatcher. Peerajele, ca și toate onorurile britanice moderne, sunt create de monarhul britanic și intră în vigoare atunci când brevetul de scrisori este aplicat cu Marele Sigiliu al Tărâmului. Guvernul Majestății sale îi sfătuiește pe Suveran pe un nou scrutin, în cadrul unui proces care examinează numirile la onoruri politice. În prezent, câțiva colegi ereditari, aleși să-i reprezinte pe ceilalți, își păstrează și dreptul de a se așeza și de a vota în Casa Lorzilor; începând cu 1 iulie 2011, rămân doar 90 de membri prezenți în virtutea unui episod ereditar.
