Nobilimea este o clasă socială care posedă privilegii sau eminență mai recunoscute decât majoritatea celorlalte clase dintr-o societate, aderarea ei fiind de obicei ereditară. Privilegiile asociate cu nobilimea pot constitui avantaje substanțiale față de sau în raport cu non-nobilii sau pot fi în mare parte onorifice și variază de la o țară la alta și de la o epocă la alta. Din punct de vedere istoric, apartenența la nobilime și prerogativele acesteia au fost reglementate sau recunoscute de către monarh sau de guvern, distingându-l astfel de alte sectoare ale clasei superioare a unei națiuni.
