Port
Un port este o locație pe o coastă sau pe un țărm care conține unul sau mai multe porturi în care navele pot acosta și transfera persoane sau mărfuri către sau de pe uscat. Locațiile porturilor sunt selectate pentru a optimiza accesul la pământ și la apa navigabilă, pentru cererea comercială și pentru adăpost de vânt și de valuri. Porturile cu apă mai adâncă sunt mai rare, dar se pot ocupa de nave mai mari și mai economice. Întrucât porturile din întreaga istorie se ocupă de orice fel de trafic, facilitățile de suport și depozitare variază foarte mult, se pot extinde pe mile și domina economia locală. Unele porturi au un rol militar important.
