Rolamite
Rolamite este o tehnologie pentru lagărele de frecare foarte scăzute dezvoltate de Sandia National Laboratories în anii '60. Inventat de către inginerul Sandia Donald F. Wilkes și patentat de el la 24 iunie 1969, aceste dispozitive utilizează o bandă de metal stresată și role contra rotative în interiorul unei incinte pentru a crea un dispozitiv de rulment liniar care pierde foarte puțină energie la frecare. O singură sursă susține că este singura invenție mecanică de bază a secolului XX. Testele efectuate de Sandia au indicat faptul că mecanismele Rolamite au demonstrat coeficienți de frecare de 0,0005, cu un ordin de mărime mai bun decât lagărele cu bilă la momentul respectiv.
