Romanismul
Romanismul este un cuvânt care a fost folosit ca termen de derogare pentru romano-catolicism în trecut, când anti-catolicismul a fost mai des întâlnit în Statele Unite și în Regatul Unit. Termenul a fost folosit frecvent la începutul secolului al XIX-lea și la începutul secolului al XX-lea împotriva democraților, ca parte a sloganului "Rum, Romanism și Rebeliune". Termenul și sloganul au câștigat o importanță deosebită în campania prezidențială din 1928, în care candidatul democrat a fost guvernatorul Catolicii anti-interzicere al New York-ului Al Smith.
