Secreţie
Secreția este procesul de elaborare, eliberare și eliminare a substanțelor chimice sau a unei substanțe chimice secretate dintr-o celulă sau o glandă. Spre deosebire de excreție, substanța poate avea o anumită funcție, mai degrabă decât să fie un produs rezidual. Mecanismul clasic al secreției celulare este prin portalurile secretoare ale membranei plasmatice celulare numite porozomi. Porozomii sunt o structură lipoproteică în formă de cupă permanentă la membrana plasmatică a celulelor, în cazul în care veziculele secretoare tranzitează temporar și fuzionează pentru a elibera conținutul intravecicular din celulă. Secreția este un mecanism foarte important în funcționarea bacteriană și funcționarea în mediul natural înconjurător pentru adaptare și supraviețuire.
