Spoliarea dovezilor
Slăbirea dovezilor este reținerea, ascunderea, modificarea sau distrugerea dovezilor relevante pentru o procedură juridică intenționată sau neglijentă. Spoliia are două consecințe posibile: în jurisdicțiile în care actul este infracțional prin lege, acesta poate conduce la amenzi și la încarcerare pentru părțile care au angajat în frământare; în jurisdicțiile în care a fost stabilit precedentul cazului precedent, procedurile eventual modificate prin frământare pot fi interpretate în baza unei inferențe de frământare. Inferența de frământare este o deducere evidente negativă pe care un identificator de fapt îl poate trage de la distrugerea unui document de către un partid sau de un lucru relevant pentru o procedură civilă sau penală în curs de desfășurare sau previzibilă în mod rezonabil: detectorul de fapt poate examina toate dovezile descoperite la fel de puternice o lumină cât mai curată posibilă față de zombie și în favoarea adversarului. Teoria inferenței de frământare este că atunci când un partid distruge dovezi, poate fi rezonabil să se deducă că partidul avea "conștiința vină" sau altă motivație pentru a evita dovezile. Prin urmare, factorul de fapt poate concluziona că dovezile ar fi fost nefavorabile pentru cel care a respins.
