Testabilitatea, o proprietate care se aplică unei ipoteze empirice, implică două componente: proprietatea logică care este descrisă diferit ca o eventualitate, defectibilitate sau falsificabilitate, ceea ce înseamnă că exemplele contrare probelor sunt logic posibile și fezabilitatea practică de a observa o serie reproductibilă astfel de exemple, dacă există. Pe scurt, o ipoteză este testabilă dacă există o anumită speranță reală de a decide dacă este adevărată sau falsă a experienței reale. Această proprietate a ipotezelor sale constitutive revine abilității de a decide dacă o teorie poate fi susținută sau falsificată de datele experienței reale. Dacă se testează ipotezele, rezultatele inițiale pot fi, de asemenea, etichetate neconcludente.
