it. avellana, v. fr. avelaine, sp. avellana, cat. vellana, astur. ablana, port. avella; prin forma incertă se explică
tarent. alońę, prov. aulona, lion.

prună-prun, dudă-dud etc.;
aluna, vb. (a căsca ochii, a se holba);
alunar, s. m. (aluniș; rozătoare, pîrș; pasăre, gaiță de munte; luna iulie), al cărui ultim sens constituie o coincidență curioasă cu
ngr. ἀλωνάρις „iulie” din
gr. ἀλωνεύομαι (Pușcariu 70); dar prezența lui -
u- arată că imaginația
pop., luînd acest cuvînt din
ngr., l-a asociat cu familia lui
alună; alunel, s. n. (dans popular);
aluniș, s. n. (desiș de aluni);
alunească, s. f. (dans de nuntă), confuzie cu
nunească; aluniu, adj. (de culoarea alunei).
