WHAT DOES CINEMASCOPE MEAN IN SPANISH?
Cinemascope
CinemaScope is a filming system characterized by the use of wide images in the shooting, achieved by compressing a normal image within the standard frame of 35 mm, then decompressing them during the projection achieving a ratio that can vary between 2.66 And 2.39 times wider than high. This was achieved with the use of special anamorphic lenses that were installed in cameras and projection machines. The screens initially projected the films in this system were broader than those used traditionally until 1953. They had a concavity that also allowed to eliminate certain distortions of the system in its beginnings. Over the years and technical improvements, such distortions were eventually eliminated and the use of concave screens became unnecessary. The first film premiered on CinemaScope was "The Robe," produced by 20th Century Fox, directed by Henry Koster and played by Richard Burton and Victor Mature. The news of the premiere appeared in the Spanish newspapers the 4 of December of 1953.
