Bassaricyon is a genus of carnivorous mammals of the family Procyonidae, commonly known as olingos. It includes several species of small carnivores of the Neotropical region. Bassaricyon es un género de mamíferos carnívoros de la familia Procyonidae, conocidos vulgarmente como olingos. Incluye varias especies de pequeños carnívoros de la región Neotropical.

It has a long and prehensile tail, strong limbs with pentadactyl and prehensile hands and feet. Its coat is abundant, black and lustrous and paler in the belly and extremities.
