Past tense)

Pasado (tiempo)

Generally, the past term is used to refer to the set of events occurring in a period prior to a given time point. In physics is called the past of an event, the set of all points of space-time that can influence what happens. In classical mechanics, the past of an event does not depend on its spatial position being solely a function of its position in time, so that the past of an event coincides with that of all events that share the same temporal coordinate. In special relativity the past of an event is equivalent to all the points of space-time from which a ray of light may pass through the point. In a space-time diagram the past of an event is seen as a cone so it is also called the cone of past light. Each of the events belonging to the cone of light past the point, occurs earlier for all observers.
