Blood

Sangre

Blood is a connective tissue, a fluid that circulates through capillaries, veins, and arteries of all vertebrates. Its characteristic red color is due to the presence of the hemoglobin pigment contained in erythrocytes. It is a type of specialized connective tissue, with a liquid colloidal matrix and a complex constitution. It has a solid phase, which includes erythrocytes, leukocytes and platelets, and a liquid phase, represented by blood plasma. These phases are also called blood components, which are divided into serum component and cellular component. Its main function is the distribution logistics and systemic integration, whose containment in the blood vessels admits its distribution towards practically the whole organism. Blood was called circulatory humor in the ancient Greco-Roman theory of the four humors.
