Improperia

Improperia - antiphon sung at the liturgy of Good Friday in parts of Christian churches, among others. Catholic and Lutheran. Their lyrical subject is Jesus, who, hanging on the cross, regrets the rejection of the chosen people. The texts merge the benefices of the suffering Savior with human gratitude. They begin with the words taken from the Book of Micah: Further quotations are quoted from the writings of the prophets of the Old Testament, referring to the Messiah's sacrifice, and their execution in the Catholic Church is accompanied by the adoration of the cross. The most beautiful in the era of the Renaissance, by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and Tomás Luis de Victoria. On Polish soil improperia represent, among others, the composition of Stanislaw Moniuszko and the old Polish song of the People, my people, which is actually a free Polish translation of the Latin song Popule meus, qui feci tibi. ↑ Mi 6.3 in the translation of the Bible ....
