tapestry
Tapisery - a generic name for one-sided fabric with a variety of decoration: figural, heraldic or animal-plant, used to decorate the walls. The term "tapisery" is commonly used interchangeably with the names: tapestries and arras. It was made of linen, woolen and silk thread, sometimes with gold or silver threads, in vertical or horizontal workshops. Tapestries have been made in ancient Egypt, in China and pre-Columbian Peru. In Europe important centers were: in the fourteenth century Paris and Arras, XV - Arras and Tournai, XVI - Flanders, Italy, XVII - Brussels, France, 18th - Gobelin and Beauvais.
