The laquearius (laquearius, laquerarius, or laqueator) was one of the gladiators of ancient Rome who fought with a rope that had a knot in a bow, in one hand, and a dagger or sword in the other. The lacquerist is one of the gladiators that appears later in the history of the Roman games.Would have been a category of full-fledged gladiators, and in this case, his tactics were similar to those of the sectarian, a gladiator whose main weapon was a net and a trident. The Lacquerist's technique was to bind the adversary, placing him at a disadvantage, and departing for a close combat with the dagger. of this fighter was similar to the one of the retiario: it consisted of a protection in the left shoulder (galerus) .other hypothesis, was that the lacquerer was a sort of paegniarius or clown. mic relief, between real combat.
