Nomination (Linguistics)
Nomination 1) the creation of linguistic units with a nominative function, which serve for: ▪ the naming or selection of fragments of reality; ▪ formation of corresponding concepts about them in the form of words, phrases, phraseologisms, sentences. In this sense, the term "nomination" is also denoted by the result of the nomination process. 2) a set of problems in the study of acts of denomination, which are considered in the theory of reference. In this sense, it is opposed to semantics. 3) a general complex of linguistic problems related to the name, word formation, polysemy and phraseology in the nominative aspect.
