Monarquía
Una monarquía es una forma de gobierno en la que la soberanía está real o nominalmente encarnada en un solo individuo. Las formas de monarquía difieren ampliamente sobre la base del nivel de autonomía legal que el monarca tiene en el gobierno, el método de selección del monarca y cualquier límite predeterminado de la duración de su mandato. Cuando el monarca no tiene o tiene pocas restricciones legales en asuntos estatales y políticos, se llama monarquía absoluta y es una forma de autocracia. Los casos en que la discreción del monarca está formalmente limitada son llamados monarquías constitucionales. En las monarquías hereditarias, la oficina pasa a través de la herencia dentro de un grupo familiar, mientras que las monarquías electivas usan algún sistema de votación.
