Dionysius Exiguus
Dionysius Exiguus était un moine du VIe siècle né en Scythia Minor. Il était membre de la communauté des moines scythes concentrée dans Tomis, la ville principale de Scythia Minor. Dionysius est mieux connu comme l'inventeur de l'ère Anno Domini, qui sert à compter les années du calendrier grégorien et du calendrier julien. A partir d'environ 500, il a vécu à Rome, où, en tant que savant membre de la Curie romaine, il a traduit du grec en latin 401 canons ecclésiastiques, y compris les canons apostoliques et les décrets des conseils de Nicée, Constantinople, Chalcédoine et Sardes, et aussi Une collection des décrétales des papes de Siricius à Anastasius II.
