Guardsman
Guardsman est un rang utilisé au lieu de privé dans certaines unités militaires qui servent de garde du corps officiel d'un souverain ou d'un chef d'État. Il est également utilisé comme terme générique pour tout membre d'une unité de garde de n'importe quel rang. Les régiments des gardes du pied de l'armée britannique ont utilisé le rang depuis 1920, date à laquelle ils ont été adoptés à la place du privé. Dans les Forces canadiennes, le classement est utilisé par les personnes privées dans les gardes du pied du gouverneur général et les gardes-grenadiers canadiens. Le classement est considéré comme non spécifique au genre et s'applique donc également aux femmes soldats. Le badge de rang est identique à celui de Private, un chevron unique. Les unités de garde en Scandinavie utilisent tous le rang. Cela comprend les Gardehusarregimentet et Den Kongelige Livgarde de l'armée danoise, l'armée norvégienne Hans Majestet Kongens Garde et le Livgardet de l'armée suédoise. Dans les forces armées de Singapour, le classement est utilisé par les gardes d'élite de Singapour. Dans l'armée indienne, le rang est utilisé par la Brigade d'élite des Gardes. Il est également utilisé pour désigner les membres de la Garde nationale des États-Unis, une force de réserve de l'armée américaine et de la Force aérienne.
