Le commerce international est l'échange de capitaux, de biens et de services à travers les frontières ou territoires internationaux. Dans la plupart des pays, ce commerce représente une part importante du produit intérieur brut. Sans commerce international, les pays se limiteraient aux biens et services produits dans leurs propres frontières. Le commerce international n'est, en principe, pas différent du commerce intérieur car la motivation et le comportement des parties impliquées dans un métier ne changent pas fondamentalement, que le commerce soit ou non dans une frontière. La principale différence est que le commerce international est généralement plus coûteux que le commerce intérieur.
