Jargon
Le jargon, la terminologie technique ou la terminologie de l'art est «la terminologie technique ou l'idiome caractéristique d'une activité ou d'un groupe spécial». Un terme de l'industrie est un type de terminologie technique qui a un sens particulier dans une industrie spécifique. Le philosophe Étienne Bonnot de Condillac a observé en 1782 que «toute science exige un langage spécial parce que chaque science a ses propres idées». En tant que membre rationaliste des Lumières, il a continué: «Il semble que l'on commence par composer cette langue, mais les gens commencent à parler et à écrire, et la langue reste à composer». Dans chaque domaine, les termes ont une ou plusieurs significations spécifiques qui ne sont pas nécessairement les mêmes que celles d'usage commun. Au début, le terme jargon renvoie aux langues commerciales utilisées par les personnes qui ont parlé différentes langues autochtones pour communiquer, comme le Jargon Chinook. En d'autres termes, le terme couvre la langue utilisée par les personnes qui travaillent dans une zone particulière ou qui ont un intérêt commun.
