Epyllion - dans la poésie grecque et romaine un court poème épique écrit avec un hexamètre ou une distemper éthérée, dédié à un épisode mythologique associé à un héros particulier, comprenant souvent une histoire d'amour. Epyllion pouvait compter jusqu'à 600 versets. Il a été caractérisé par la présence de digressions, il a également utilisé le dialogue. C'était un style sublime. Le genre a été formé dans la littérature grecque, mais il a été continué dans la littérature romaine. Les épyllions sont entre autres. dans Teocritus, Euphoria, Katullus, et dans l'annexe Vergiliana. Le genre n'a pas été développé à l'époque moderne; Le terme epilion a été utilisé, cependant, dans la littérature romantique comme synonyme du terme "roman poétique".

Epyllion – w poezji greckiej i rzymskiej krótki utwór epicki pisany heksametrem lub dystychem elegijnym, poświęcony epizodowi mitologicznemu, związanemu z konkretnym bohaterem, często zawierający także wątek miłosny. Epyllion mógł liczyć do 600 wersów. Charakteryzował się obecnością uczonych dygresji, posługiwał się także dialogiem. Pisany był stylem wzniosłym. Gatunek ukształtował się w literaturze greckiej, kontynuowany był jednak także w literaturze rzymskiej. Epylliony znajdują się m.in. u Teokryta, Euforiona, Katullusa oraz w zbiorze Appendix Vergiliana. Gatunek nie był rozwijany w epoce nowożytnej; terminu epylion używano jednak w literaturze romantycznej jako synonimu terminu "powieść poetycka".
