Lazaret - Anciennement un hôpital militaire, en particulier un hôpital de campagne, conçu pour fournir des soldats blessés sur le terrain et pour isoler et soigner les soldats malades. Le nom "lazaret" vient du nom de Saint Pierre. Lazare, anciennement connu sous le nom de l'Hôpital des Chevaliers de l'Ordre. Lazarus, qui étaient principalement traités avec des patients atteints de la lèpre. Sur l'île près de Venise se dressait l'église de Santa Maria di Nazaretto. Après l'épidémie de peste dans les années 1347 - 1348 sur cette île une installation de quarantaine a été mise en place, qui plus tard s'est transformée en un leprozorium. Pendant la Renaissance, le nom de Lazaretto a été utilisé contre de petits bâtiments dans des installations de quarantaine ou d'isolement, en particulier à Leprozoria. Au fil du temps, ces bâtiments sont devenus un abri pour les malades graves et les mourants de l'Ordre des Chevaliers de Saint. Lazare, appelé Lazare. Les lazares d'origine étaient de construction temporaire à la limite du leprozorium ou étaient d'autres bâtiments adaptés à cet effet.

Lazaret - dawne określenie szpitala wojskowego, zwłaszcza polowego, który przeznaczony był do opatrywania rannych na polu walki oraz izolacji i leczenia chorych żołnierzy. Nazwa "lazaret" wywodzi się od imienia św. Łazarza, nadawanego dawniej szpitalom Zakonu Rycerzy od Św. Łazarza, w których opiekowano się głównie chorymi na trąd. Na wyspie w pobliżu Wenecji stał kościół Santa Maria di Nazaretto. Po epidemii dżumy w latach 1347 - 1348 na wyspie tej zorganizowano miejsce kwarantanny, które później przekształciło się w leprozorium. W okresie Odrodzenia nazwy lazaretto używano wobec niewielkich budowli w miejscach kwarantanny lub odosobnienia chorych, zwłaszcza w leprozoriach. Z czasem budynki te stały się przytułkami dla ciężko chorych i umierających prowadzonymi przez Zakon Rycerzy św. Łazarza, nazywanych lazarystami. Pierwotne lazarety miały charakter budowli tymczasowych stawianych na granicy leprozorium lub były innymi budynkami adaptowanymi do tego celu.
