Sephora - une figure biblique du Livre de l'Exode, l'épouse de Moïse. Elle était l'une des sept filles du prêtre Madian Jetra. Après l'assassinat égyptien, Moïse s'enfuit au pays des Madiens, s'arrêta au puits où ils venaient de boire les moutons de la fille de Jetra. Quand d'autres bergers essayaient de les chasser, Moïse se tenait à leur défense. Jetro a appris l'incident et a invité Moïse chez lui. Il a vécu avec lui et a épousé Sepho, qui lui a donné un fils nommé Gershom. Le livre de l'exil mentionne aussi leur deuxième descendant, Eliezer. Après la manifestation de Dieu à Moïse Sephor, avec la permission de son père, elle est allée avec son mari et ses enfants en Egypte. Au cours du voyage, Dieu a tenté de tuer Moïse, Sephora a pris un couteau de pierre et a coupé le prépuce de son fils, touchant les pieds de son mari et disant: «Conjoint sanglant, c'est toi pour moi». Alors Dieu est parti de Moïse. La signification de cette scène est l'objet de luttes bibliques, elle est généralement interprétée comme la colère de Dieu, parce que Moïse, malgré l'alliance avec Abraham, n'a pas circoncis son fils.

Sefora – postać biblijna z Księgi Wyjścia, żona Mojżesza. Była jedną z siedmiu córek madianickiego kapłana Jetry. Po zabójstwie Egipcjanina Mojżesz uciekł do kraju Madianitów, zatrzymał się przy studni, do której właśnie udawały się napoić owce córki Jetry. Kiedy inni pasterze próbowali je przepędzić, Mojżesz stanął w ich obronie. Jetro dowiedział się o zajściu i zaprosił Mojżesza do swojego domu. Ten zamieszkał u niego i poślubił Seforę, która dała mu syna imieniem Gerszom. Księga Wyjścia wzmiankuje później również o ich drugim potomku, Eliezerze. Po objawieniu się Boga Mojżeszowi Sefora za zgodą ojca udała się wraz z mężem i synami do Egiptu. Gdy podczas podróży Bóg próbował zabić Mojżesza, Sefora wzięła kamienny nóż i obcięła napletek swojego syna, dotykając nim stóp męża i wypowiadając słowa «Oblubieńcem krwi jesteś ty dla mnie». Wówczas Bóg odstąpił od Mojżesza. Znaczenie tej sceny jest przedmiotem sporu biblistów, interpretuje się ją zazwyczaj jako gniew Boży spowodowany tym, że Mojżesz wbrew przymierzu zawartemu z Abrahamem nie obrzezał swojego syna.
