Satraplık est le nom donné aux unités administratives dans la civilisation de l'Iran où le territoire du pays est divisé, ou le nom des Persans comme assignations de gouverneur. L'empire perse était gouverné absolument. Les pouvoirs du souverain perse étaient illimités et répondaient aux exigences de la loi. Le pays est divisé en États appelés satrapes. Les satrapies étaient gouvernés par des gens nommés satrap et choisis parmi la noblesse perse. Système développé par I. Darius BC Il a été utilisé en 340 ans. Les Perses ont établi ces satrapes pour gérer leurs terres de la mer Egée à l'Inde. Après l'occupation d'Alexandre, ce système avait disparu. Les nobles persans servaient en satrape comme satrape. Les satrapes étaient inspectés chaque année par les personnes nommées par le roi. Les satraves considérés comme inadéquats dans la gestion sont retirés du poste ou punis. Satraplıklar satrap adı verilen ve Pers soyluları arasından seçilen kişiler tarafından yönetilmiştir. I. Darius tarafından geliştirilmiş sistem M.Ö. 340 yıllarında kullanılmaktaydı. Persler Ege Denizi’nden Hindistan’a kadar olan topraklarını yönetebilmek için bu satraplıkları kurdular. İskender'in işgalinden sonra ise bu sistem ortadan kalktı. Satraplarda Pers soyluları satrap olarak görev yapmıştır. Satraplar her yıl kralın görevlendirdiği kişiler tarafından teftiş edilmiştir. Yönetimde yetersiz görülen satraplar görevden alınmış ya da cezalandırılmışlardır. Sayıları yirminin üzerindedir. Satraplıkların her birinde bir Pers garnizonu bulunuyordu.
