Monachesimo
Il monachesimo o la monachità è un modo di vita religioso in cui si rinuncia alle fasi mondane per dedicarsi pienamente al lavoro spirituale. La vita monastica svolge un ruolo importante in molte chiese cristiane, soprattutto nelle tradizioni cattoliche e ortodosse. Esistono forme simili di vita religiosa anche in altre fedi, soprattutto nel Buddismo, ma anche nell'Induismo e nel Jainismo, anche se le espressioni differiscono notevolmente. I maschi che perseguono una vita monastica sono generalmente chiamati monaci mentre le monastiche femminili sono chiamate monache.
