Usabilidade, conforme definido na EN ISO 9241-11, significa a medida em que um determinado produto, sistema ou serviço pode ser usado por determinados usuários em um determinado contexto de aplicação para alcançar certos objetivos efetivamente, de forma eficiente e satisfatória. É, portanto, intimamente relacionado com o conceito de facilidade de utilização. A facilidade de utilização é o requisito mínimo de que um sistema é utilizado para a satisfação dos usuários, a facilidade de utilização também leva em consideração os aspectos emocionais de toda a experiência do usuário, a chamada experiência do usuário.
