A profundidade da curva, bem como a largura do tecido, determinam a profundidade da roda. Um godet é uma cunha de círculo que pode ser inserida em uma flensa para aprofundar ainda mais a onda flutuante externa sem adicionar volume adicional no ponto de fixação ao corpo do vestuário, como na bainha, colar ou manga. Ruffles apareceu nos decotes de cordas de desenho de camisolas completas no século 15, evoluiu para o pavimento construído separadamente do século XVI. Ruffles e flounins permaneceram uma forma elegante de guarnição, off-and-on nos tempos modernos.
