Stimulatorul cardiac este un software gratuit comun pentru gestionarea resurselor în clustere cu disponibilitate ridicată de la Linux. Administrează operarea serviciilor server pe un cluster de computere pentru a asigura disponibilitatea maximă, monitorizează serverele și utilitățile. Este distribuit ca software liber și în textul sursă, prin care bibliotecile de programe și fișierele de antet se află sub licența publică generală Lesser GNU Liberală și tot restul în cadrul Licenței Publice Generale GNU. Pentru a comunica nodurile unul cu celălalt, setați la OpenAIS sau bătăile inimii învechite. Pacemaker acceptă controlul dispozitivelor STONITH, care pot fi utilizate pentru a dezactiva automat nodurile în cazul deconectării de la funcționarea clusterului. Pacemaker a fost anterior parte a proiectului Linux-HA; este succesorul rescris 2008 al Heartbeat, care a fost împărțit într-un nou proiect. Acesta a fost dezvoltat de dezvoltatorii SUSE, care este și primul care oferă suport tehnic comercial pentru SUSE.
