Capelinul sau caplinul, Mallotus villosus, este un mic furaj furajer al familiei de mieluri găsite în oceanele atlantice și arctice. În timpul verii, se adună pe roiuri dense de plancton la marginea raftului de gheață. Capelin mai mare, de asemenea, mânca o mare parte din krill și alte crustacee. Bărbații au o creastă translucidă pe ambele părți ale corpului lor. Aspectele ventrale ale bărbaților iridesc roșiați în momentul producerii icrelor.
