Concept
În metafizică, și în special în ontologie, un concept este o categorie fundamentală de existență. În filosofia contemporană există cel puțin trei modalități predominante de a înțelege ce este un concept: ▪ Concepte ca reprezentări mentale, în care conceptele sunt entități care există în creier. ▪ Concepte ca abilități, în care conceptele sunt abilități specifice agenților cognitivi. ▪ Concepte ca obiecte abstracte, în care obiectele sunt constituenții propozițiilor care mediază între gând, limbă și referințe.

Prima definiție a conceptului în dicționar este o idee, adică o idee abstractă.
