Deviație (sociologie)
În sociologie, deviația descrie acțiuni sau comportamente care încalcă normele sociale, inclusiv norme formale adoptate, precum și încălcări informale ale normelor sociale. Este de competența sociologilor, psihologilor, psihiatrilor și criminologilor să studieze modul în care aceste norme sunt create, modul în care se schimbă în timp și modul în care sunt aplicate. Normele sunt reguli și așteptări prin care membrii societății sunt ghidați convențional. Deviația este o lipsă de conformitate cu aceste norme. Normele sociale diferă de la cultură la cultură. De exemplu, un act deviant poate fi comis într-o societate care rupe o normă socială acolo, dar poate fi normală pentru o altă societate. Privind devianta ca o incalcare a normelor sociale, sociologii l-au caracterizat drept "orice gand, sentiment sau actiune pe care membrii unui judecator de grup social le reprezinta o incalcare a valorilor sau regulilor lor" sau "grupeaza" comportamentul care incalca definitiile adecvate si comportament inadecvat împărtășit de membrii unui sistem social.
