Eroziune
Eroziunea este procesul prin care solul și roca sunt îndepărtate de pe suprafața Pământului prin procese exogene precum fluxul de vânt sau de apă și apoi transportate și depozitate în alte locații. În timp ce eroziunea este un proces natural, activitățile umane au crescut cu 10-40 de ori rata la care eroziunea se produce la nivel global. Eroziunea excesivă provoacă atât probleme la fața locului, cât și probleme în afara amplasamentului. Impacturile la fața locului includ scăderea productivității agricole și a colapsului ecologic, atât din cauza pierderii straturilor superioare de sol bogate în nutrienți. În unele cazuri, eventualul rezultat final este deșertificarea. Efectele din afara amplasamentului includ sedimentarea căilor navigabile și eutrofizarea corpurilor de apă, precum și daunele cauzate de sedimente pe drumuri și case.
