Eroare
O eroare este un argument care folosește raționamentul slab. Un argument poate fi greșit dacă concluzia sa este adevărată sau nu. O eroare poate fi oficială sau informală. O eroare care provine dintr-o formă logică slabă este numită uneori o eroare oficială sau pur și simplu un argument nevalid. O eroare informală este o eroare în raționamentul care nu provine dintr-o formă logică necorespunzătoare. Argumentele care comit erori informale pot fi valide oficial, dar încă false. Fallaciile prezumției nu dovedesc concluzia prin asumarea concluziei din probă. Fallaciile de inferență slabă nu dovedesc concluzia din cauza unor dovezi insuficiente. Fallațiile de distragere a atenției nu dovedesc concluzia din cauza unor dovezi irelevante, cum ar fi emoția. Fallaciile de ambiguitate nu reușesc să dovedească concluzia din cauza vagătății în cuvinte, fraze sau gramatică. Unele erori sunt comise intenționat, altele neintenționate din cauza neatenției sau a ignoranței.
