CE ÎNSEAMNĂ INTERNUNCIO ÎN ENGLEZĂ?
Nunţiu
Nunțiul este titlul pentru un diplomat ecleziastic, fiind un reprezentant sau reprezentant permanent al diplomației Sfântului Scaun unui stat sau unei organizații internaționale. Un nunțiu este numit de Sfântul Scaun și îl reprezintă și este șeful misiunii diplomatice, numit Nunțiatura Apostolică, echivalentul unei ambasade. Sfântul Scaun este distinct din punct de vedere juridic de orașul Vatican sau de Biserica Catolică. Un nunțiu este de obicei arhiepiscop. Un nunțiu papal este, în general, echivalent cu rangul de ambasador extraordinar și plenipotențiar, deși în țările catolice, nunțiul se situează adesea deasupra ambasadorilor în protocolul diplomatic. Un nunțiu are aceleași funcții ca un ambasador și are aceleași privilegii diplomatice. Conform Convenției de la Viena din 1961 privind relațiile diplomatice, la care Sfântul Scaun este parte, un nunțios este un ambasador ca și cei din orice altă țară. Convenția de la Viena permite statului-gazdă să acorde vechimii în fața nunțiului asupra celorlalți rangul ambasadorial acreditat în aceeași țară și poate acorda decanajul corpului diplomatic al acestei țări la nunțiu, indiferent de vechime.
