Misticism
Misticismul este o constelație de practici distinctive, discursuri, texte, instituții, tradiții și experiențe care vizează transformarea umană, definite diferit în diferite tradiții ". Termenul "misticism" are origini occidentale, cu diferite semnificații determinate istoric. Derivat din musul grec, adică "să ascundă", el sa referit la dimensiunile biblice, liturgice și spirituale sau contemplative în creștinismul timpuriu și medieval și a devenit asociat cu "experiențe extraordinare și stări de spirit" în perioada timpurie moderna. În vremurile moderne, "misticismul" a dobândit o definiție limitată, însă o aplicație largă, în sensul scopului "unirii cu Absolutul, Infinitul sau Dumnezeu". Această definiție limitată a fost aplicată pentru a include o gamă largă de tradiții și practici religioase. Începând cu anii 1960, în cercetarea științifică a "experiențelor mistice" între abordările perene și constructiviste se desfășoară o dezbatere științifică.
