Notchback este un termen de styling care descrie un stil de caroserie, o variantă a stilului cu trei cutii unde cel de-al treilea volum distinct sau "cutie" este mai puțin pronunțată - mai ales în cazul în care puntea spate este scurtă sau în cazul în care geamul din spate este în poziție verticală. În general, notchback-ul se referă la unghiul distinct al lunetei în raport cu linia de acoperiș mai orizontală a vehiculului și cu spatele acestuia din spate. Termenul este derivat din substantiv, notch care semnifică v-cut sau indentare - deși ca termen de styling el elimină o definiție precisă și se poate suprapune altor denumiri de styling. Termenul se poate aplica unei configurații sedan, coupé, liftback sau hatchback - mai ales în cazul în care cea de-a treia cutie a stilului cu trei cutii rămâne articulată, deși poate abia, ca și cea a celei de-a treia generații europene a Ford Escort. Notchback poate evidenția un unghi ascuțit sau abrupt al acoperișului / din spate. Printre exemple se numără Ford Anglia și Mercury S. Montclair, care includ și o fereastră din spate care poate fi coborâtă pentru ventilația "briză".
