Animal de companie
Un animal de companie este un animal ținut în primul rând pentru o companie sau protecție a unei persoane, spre deosebire de animalele de lucru, animalele de sport, animalele și animalele de laborator, care sunt păstrate în principal pentru performanță, valoare agricolă sau cercetare. Cele mai populare animale de companie sunt notabile pentru aparițiile lor atractive și pentru personalitățile lor loiale sau jucăușă. Animalele de companie oferă de obicei proprietarilor lor beneficii fizice și emoționale. Plimbarea unui câine poate oferi oamenilor și animalelor de companie exerciții, aer curat și interacțiune socială. Animalele de companie pot oferi companiilor adulții în vârstă care nu au o interacțiune socială adecvată cu alte persoane. Există o clasă medicală aprobată de animale de terapie, în cea mai mare parte câini, care sunt aduse pentru a vizita oameni limitați.
