Petrarca
Francesco Petrarca, anglicat în mod obișnuit ca Petrarch, a fost un cărturar și poet italian în Italia Renașterii și unul dintre primii umaniști. Redescoperirea lui Petrarca a scrisorilor lui Cicero este deseori creditată pentru inițierea Renașterii din secolul al XIV-lea. Petrarca este adesea numit "Tatăl umanismului".
