Promisiune
O promisiune este un angajament de către cineva să facă sau nu să facă ceva. Ca promisiune substantiv înseamnă o declarație care asigură că cineva va sau nu va face ceva. Ca verb înseamnă a se angaja printr-o promisiune de a face sau de a da. Aceasta poate însemna și o capacitate de bine, similară unei valori care trebuie realizată în viitorul apropiat. În legea contractului, un schimb de promisiuni este de obicei considerat legal, conform maximului latin pacta sunt servanda.
