Rizom
În botanică și dendrologie, un rizom este o tulpină modificată subterană a unei plante care se găsește de obicei în subteran, adesea trimițând rădăcini și lăstari din nodurile sale. Rizomii sunt numiți și tulpini de portaltoi și portaltoi. Rhizomele se dezvoltă din muguri axilare și sunt diageotropice sau cresc perpendiculare pe forța gravitației. Rizomul păstrează, de asemenea, capacitatea de a permite lăstarilor noi să crească în sus. Dacă un rizom este împărțit în bucăți, fiecare piesă poate fi capabilă să ducă la apariția unei noi plante.
