We're obviously in a strange environment where practically anyone can set themselves up as a pundit of sorts. I grew up in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, in the early '90s, and hospitals and doctor's offices offered to x-ray candy. I was 7 or 8. The day after Halloween, my brother and I were sorting all of our candy, and my mom asked if she could have a piece of my gum. She put the gum in her mouth, bit down, and there was a shard of metal in it!
But I think that your entire life is a process of sorting out some of those early messages that you got.
We should all do what, in the long run, gives us joy, even if it is only picking grapes or sorting the laundry.
