Stout este o bere întunecată realizată cu malț prăjit sau orz prăjit, hamei, apă și drojdie. Stouts au fost, în mod tradițional, termenul generic pentru cei mai puternici sau mai buni portari, de obicei 7% sau 8%, produse de o fabrică de bere.
