mine, tine, pentru a evita prezența unui cuvînt monosilabic în poziție tonică,
cf. lat. sese, sp. consigo. Se folosește ca
mine (
pron. pers. de persoana a-III-a, la cazurile prepoziționale;
înv., acuzativ fără
prep.); dar a ajuns să însemne „cuget lăuntric”, sens cu care se folosește ca
s.:
în sinea lui ‹
în sine „înlăuntrul său”,
în sinea mea „pentru mine” etc.; și, de asemeni, cu posesivul enclitic
în sine-mi, în sine-ți, în sineși. În
sec. XIX s-a folosit pentru a traduce
pref. auto-; sineiubire (egoism);
sinestătător (autonom) etc. Dintre aceste formații s-au păstrat în limbă numai
sinucidere și
sinucigaș.
