Consumption

Consumo

Consumption is the action and effect of consuming or spending, be they products, and other ephemeral goods, or goods and services, such as energy, understood to be consumed as the use of these products and services to satisfy primary and secondary needs. Mass consumption has given rise to consumerism and the so-called consumer society. In purely economic terms, consumption refers to the final stage of the economic process, especially the productive process, defined as the moment when a good or service produces some utility to the consumer. In this sense there are goods and services that are directly destroyed in the act of consumption, while with others what happens is that its consumption consists in its transformation into another type of different goods or services. Consumption, therefore, comprises the acquisition of goods and services by any economic subject. It means meeting current or future needs and is considered the ultimate economic process.
