WHAT DOES SOPRANO MEAN IN SPANISH?

Soprano

Soprano is the musical term with which it is denominated in Spanish to the most acute voice of those that form the human vocal record or, by extension, the most acute voice of the harmony. In choral and operatic contexts, the soprano line usually carries the melody. The term in Spanish was taken from the soprano Italian. This in turn comes from the Latin super, supra: 'sobre, sobre de'. The term tiple has a long tradition in Spain and America and is still used in the genre of zarzuela. This voice is characteristic of the female sex and of the men before entering puberty, stage in which they develop the secondary sexual characters, which include the enlargement of the vocal cords and loss of the infantile tiple. However, in antiquity, it was possible to keep this infant tiple in the castrati, men who were amputated the testicles so that they did not experience the hormonal change corresponding to puberty, and in that way they would keep the tesitura, to which Added the vocal power of the adult.
