Antistrophe
The antystyrus in the Greek metric is the second part of the rhythmic system of the Hellenic choral lyrical, which is called the Doric triad: it is the portion of a song, sung by the choir in a movement from west to east, as a response to the stanza , which is instead sung in the other direction. These two parts are, in any case, identical in their structure; the third part is the epod, which closes and joins the other two. The antistress is, in theory, an answer and serves to provide a balance to the effects of the stanza. In the literature, the antistress is a rhetorical element that provides the termination of parts of the same period with the same word, so it is an equal figure and contrary to the anhalor. The antistress was not only used by classics, but is also largely present in biblical and evangelical traditions, as in the First Letter to the Corinthians of St. Paul. In poetry, even modern, the antistress can be traced back to the sought-after lyrical style, which involves repetition of the same word.
Definition of antistrofe in the Italian dictionary
The definition of antistrophe in the dictionary is in the chorus of Greek tragedy and in the Pindaric odes, second element of the strophic triad, following the stanza and preceding the epodo. Antistrofe is also a figure of speech which consists in ending two or more successive sentences with the same word.
