Bastion
Bastion is a five-point long-term or field fortification structure erected on corners of a fortress fence, intended for fire protection of fortified walls, ditches and shelling of the area before fortification. Bastion usually consisted of one or two earthen ramps, which contained guns. The second shaft, which was built above the first, was called "cavalier". Part of the bastion, opened inside the fortress, was called "Gorgia". The area of the fortress wall between the bastion was called "curtain". Two bastions with a curtain formed the bastion front, a combination of bastion fronts - a bastion system.
