Canonisation

Canonization

La canonisation ou la canonisation est l'acte par lequel l'Église catholique ou l'Église orthodoxe orientale déclare une personne décédée comme saint, sur laquelle la personne est incluse dans le canon ou la liste des saints reconnus. À l'origine, les individus étaient reconnus comme saints sans aucun processus formel. Plus tard, des processus différents, tels que ceux utilisés par l'Église catholique romaine et l'Église orthodoxe orientale, ont été développés. Canonization or canonisation is the act by which the Catholic Church or Eastern Orthodox Church declares a deceased person to be a saint, upon which declaration the person is included in the canon, or list, of recognized saints. Originally, individuals were recognized as saints without any formal process. Later, different processes, such as those used by the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church were developed.
